Broken Heart Records releases Socratic vinyl
Profiles
Music Sydney Entertainment Australia
Broken Heart Records has released a vinyl pressing of both Socratic’s “Lunch For The Sky” and the band’s self titled album. There are many options, including a bundle package with a very limited shirt and pressing information for each individual release. They are now both up for pre-order.
New Jersey's Socratic is set to re-release their hit album, "Lunch For The Sky," (2005) in addition totheir self-produced 2012 release, "Socratic (The Album)" on vinyl on August 25th.
"Lunch For The Sky," which Alternative Press Magazine hailed, as "Jimmy Eat World overdosed on Meatloaf," was Socratic's debut release on Drive-Thru Records. The album saw much critical and commercial success, with several tracks featured on MTV and A&E reality series such as "The Hills," "The Real World," "Pimp My Ride," "MADE," and "Dog The Bounty Hunter," in addition to the major motion picture, "Kids in America." Vinyl can be purchased at http://www.bhrrecords.com.
Socratic, consisting of Duane Okun (Lead Vocals/Guitar), Lou Panico (Bass/Vocals), Thomas Stratton (Drums) and Chris Grzan (Gutiar) is a seamless blend of charming, engaging lyrics, memorable melodies and clever arrangements, all bound together by a spirited Rock & Roll foundation. It balances limitless passion and musical precision to provide a thoughtful twist on life, love and contemporary culture. The quartet has performed for audiences across the United States, Australia and Japan, and shared the stage with major artists including Brand New, All American Rejects, Incubus, The Offspring, Motion City Soundtrack, Saves The Day, Boys Like Girls, Pete Yorn, Plain White Ts, Good Old War, All Time Low, The Rocket Summer, Ace Enders, Steel Train and Me Without You.
Socratic first reached a national audience in 2005, when its first full-length album "Lunch for the Sky" was released on Drive-Thru Records. John Goodmanson, whose resume includes artists such as Death Cab for Cutie, Nirvana, Nada Surf and Owl City, produced the album. After releasing the five-track EP "Just Turn" a year later, Socratic entered the studio with Blink 182's Mark Hoppus, who produced the band's second full-length album, "Spread the Rumors." Released in 2008, the album was met with critical acclaim, but the release was not well timed, as Drive-Thru Records met its demise shortly after the album's release.
With no financial assistance from a label, Socratic battled on, entering the studio to fund and produce its third full-length album with its own resources. Though it took over two years, "Socratic (The Album)" was released on January 10, 2012. Now, with a new album under its belt, Socratic continues to play vibrant live shows, write new material, and look to the future with a restored sense of optimism, anticipation and excitement. At the time of the album’s release, Lunch For The Sky received high praise, putting Socratic on the map within a crowded pop-punk scene. A record which has an stong appeal, the vinyl pressing was a welcome announcement, rocketing new life into an album which should be heard by music fans all over.
Socratic, for the first time, will be playing the entire "Lunch For The Sky" album from beginning to end at their Vinyl Release show on August 25th at 10th Street Live in Kenilworth, New Jersey.
