The World's Most Spectacular New Year's Eve Party Just Got Better

Sydney Resolution Excluded From Dry Zone; Let The Champers Flow!

Profiles

Music Australia News News Entertainment News

Sydney Resolution New Year’s Eve Concert is thrilled to let New Year’s Eve party goers know that on the back of Sydney Council’s announcement of alcohol-free zones at New Year’s Eve fireworks hot spots, Sydney Resolution will remain a licensed event – with multiple bars stocked with a full range of beer, wine and spirits – exclusively for Sydney Resolution patrons to enjoy.

Yesterday’s announcement of alcohol bans across Sydney will ensure that those seeing in the New Year around popular party locations (parks, beaches and reserves) will have to do so with water, juice and soft drinks only due to a Sydney Council dry zone decision. However, Sydney Resolution patrons will not only be able to enjoy the very best in music and premium fireworks displays, but also icy cold beers, chilled wines, spirits and flowing champagne.

Sydney Resolution New Year’s Eve Concert is Sydney’s biggest New Year’s Eve party, which will be staged at Sydney’s Glebe Island, overlooking the iconic Sydney Harbour on Saturday December 31st 2011. The inaugural Sydney Resolution New Year’s Eve Concert will feature international superstars including Jamiroquai, Culture Club and Pet Shop Boys, as well as Australia’s very own Guy Sebastian, Pseudo Echo and Lyndsey Ollard.

With unobstructed, stunning views of the city and the fireworks display, there is no better place to be on New Year’s Eve than Glebe Island. See 2011 out with a bang with some of the world’s biggest classic and contemporary artists, playing all the songs you know and love.

Sydney’s Glebe Island will turn into a ‘mini city’ for this very special event, with a custom-built venue providing the very best in entertainment and bars, an incredible on-site ‘village’ showcasing Sydney’s best local and international food, and a unique array of retail and market stalls.

Sydney Resolution New Year’s Eve Concert is the hottest ticket in town for New Year’s Eve!
Please be advised that Sydney Resolution New Year’s Eve Concert is a licensed event – all patrons must be over 18 years of age.

Glebe Island is situated under the Anzac Bridge on the beautiful Sydney Harbour. All patrons will arrive and depart by ferry or bus service from terminals and wharfs provided by Sydney Resolution New Year’s Eve Concert.

Please note there is no parking at the event. Gates open at 2pm, entertainment commences at 4:00pm and all performances will conclude by 1:45am. Gates close at 3.00am.

The Line Up...

JAMIROQUAI With more than 25 million album sales worldwide it’s fair to say that JAMIROQUAI are one of the UK’s most successful acts of any era. Fronted by the charismatic Jay Kay, JAMIROQUAI are coming down under for an electrifying live funk spectacular. JAMIROQUAI led the acid-jazz movement in the early ‘90s, later shifting to a unique mix of funk, soul and disco. Hits such as Cosmic Girl, You Give Me Something, When You Gonna Learn, Virtual Insanity, Little L and Love Foolosophy all formed the sound of a generation. With a seventh hit album, Rock Dust Light
Star, JAMIROQUAI show no sign of stopping, as they dust off their moves for an exclusive show at Sydney Resolution New Year’s Eve Concert.

CULTURE CLUB were at the forefront of the New Romantic movement, and one of the defining music acts of the 1980s. CULTURE CLUB – Boy George, Roy Hay, Mikey Craig and Jon Moss – had an incredible seven Top 10 hits in Australia including Do You Really Want To Hurt Me, Karma Chameleon, Church Of The Poison Mind and The War Song. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to see CULTURE CLUB in all their original glory. The songs are timeless, the voice is unique and the band is still one-of-a-kind.

PET SHOP BOYS - Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe - are electronic dance-pop pioneers and one of the world’s bestselling artists. PET SHOP BOYS have sold more than 100 million records worldwide and had 17 Top 40 hits in Australia, and continue to set the charts and dance floor on fire with dance and pop classics like West End Girls, It’s A Sin, Go West, What Have I Done To Deserve This and Always On My Mind. Fans at Sydney Resolution New Year’s Eve Concert can expect a one-of-a-kind show from the PET SHOP BOYS, who are reproducing their theatrical stage performance – including the major video and dance component – that was created in 2009 at London’s O2.

GUY SEBASTIAN is undoubtedly one of Australia’s greatest singer-songwriters. His first solo single, Angels Brought Me Here, debuted at number one and was the fastest-selling Australian single in ARIA chart history. Add to this his string of awards and the fact he is the only Australian male artist in Australian music history to achieve five chart-topping singles
– including Angels Brought Me Here, All I Need Is You, Out With My Baby, Like It Like That and Who’s That Girl? – and you can see why GUY SEBASTIAN is not to be missed this New Year’s Eve.

PSEUDO ECHO pioneered the new ‘80s electro-pop sound in Australia and quickly established themselves as one of the country’s most successful and influential bands with Top 10 hits such as Listening, A Beat For You, Don’t Go, Living In A Dream and their iconic cover of Lipps Inc’s Funky Town. Since forming in 1982, the band have had album sales in excess of one million worldwide, a Top 10 single on the Billboard US pop charts and a number one single on the
Billboard US dance charts. In 2011 PSEUDO ECHO’S relentless party groove continues to resonate with musicians and fans alike, so get ready to keep groovin’ with some energy this New Year’s Eve!

LYNDSEY OLLARD is an English-born recording artist who splits her time between the Australian Northern Beaches and her UK home. Her debut album, One Night Stand, is eclectic and witty with a combination of catchy beats, haunting melodies and at times hilariously dry lyrics – from the tongue in cheek pub anthem Wasted, through to the heartbreaking tribute Too Young To Die.

Casino Celebrities Leonardo DiCaprio And George Clooney Do Sydney; Spider-Man Tobey Hides From Media; Melbourne Next?, by Greg Tingle

Profiles

The Great Gatsby Baz Luhrmann Leonardo Dicaprio George Clooney Tobey Maguire The Darling The Star Echo Entertainment Sydney News Financial News Casino News Poker News Entertainment News

Leonardo DiCaprio and mystery blonde

A number of the world's most famous and talented Hollywood movies stars (and social and community entrepreneurs) have recently been spotted on Australian soil, in 'Sin City' Sydney no less. Who are we talking about. Just Leonardo DiCaprio and George Clooney.

These boys are fast and hard to nail down, with both the ladies and news media we understand, so by the time you read this, Clooney might be back to Hollywood in the U.S and 'Our Leo' (affectionate) might have hopped a lear jet back to the States, or maybe he's hiding out back at The Star (ex Star City Casino), where 'Georgy Boy' (affectionate satire) has also been spotted.

Both DiCaprio and Clooney have a thing for casinos. DiCaprio has played quite a bit of Hollywood Poker in his time, getting some major headlines in media including TMZ, as well as did the Rounders poker movie back in 1998. Clooney of course played Danny Ocean Ocean's Eleven (and 12 and 13). Movie and history buffs will be interested to know that in the 1960's version of Ocean's Eleven Danny was played by Frank Sinatra, and he was joined by four other members of the original Rat Pack: Peter Lawford, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr., and Joey Bishop.

Ok, back to matters at hand in Sydney...

George Clooney and Sid Vaikunta

George Clooney

Clooney was in town last week doing his talk at Darling Habour Convention Centre (the one where people paid up to $1100 a ticket). His girlfriend, former WWE wrestling diva Stacy Keibler, did not come. It's not like they are married and have to be side by side 24/7. Keibler is understood to be more keen on a full time commitment type of thing than Clooney at this stage of the game.

Being a bit of casino fan, Clooney made time to meet with The Star’s managing director, Sid Vaikunta at The Darling hotel, where George Clooney was the hotel's virgin (first) customer to stay in the hotel’s new luxurious penthouse suite. The Darling is 'Sin City' Sydney’s latest and greatest five-star boutique hotel and is a paramount part of The Star’s $870 million master plan which is focussed on expansion, refurbishment and The Star being known as a premier Australian integrated hotel - casino - resort and entertainment hub, comparable to the best that Las Vegas and Macau have to offer. The Star and The Darling want their casino whales, but they are also happy to have dolphins and regular punters. Celeb, casino whale, food lover, poker professional or just passing by - The Star wants you!

Leo DiCaprio...

DiCaprio continues to enjoy Sydney. About a month ago he celebrated his birthday party at Kings Cross, followed by a fantastic afterparty.

For about a month Leo was hanging out with Blake Lively, but that particular blonde is currently in New York, so it wasn't her at the Vaucluse House park surroundings.

Yet another lucky blonde was caught walking around with Leo, this time in the grounds of the historic Vaucluse House in Sydney.

It's handy for Leo, since he's doing some of the Gatsby movie shoots at Fox Studios, Moore Park, and Leo's also hired out some private digs at Vaucluse.

For the record it was not Carey Mulligan who was spotted walking around the pack with Leo.

The blonde was not the bikini-wearing brunette who was paped with Leo back in October after a spot of paddle-boarding at the rented waterfront mansion.

A well connected source tells us that there's a certain group of models based in Sydney who all share a bit of time with Leo. Sort of a personal introduction kind of thing. Aussie models Alyce Crawford and Kendal Schuler are understood to be in the thick of the action. Lucky girls.

Tobey Maguire...

The star of the past couple of Spider-Man movies (and keen Hollywood Poker player) Maguire, has kept things very quite in recently weeks. He's been spotted driving and taxi-ing around Sydney, but is not talking or doing photographs with fans we hear. We haven't even seen him at The Star's gaming room. Maguire is understood to be enjoying time with his family when he's not busy on the set of The Great Gatsby.

The boys were all offered rooms at The Stars 'The Darling', and all accepted, but they are also understood to have also spent time elsewhere in Sydney.

In the meantime, we understand that James Packer owned Crown Melbourne aka Crown Casino, is also keen to see more Hollywood stars stay at their fancy Crown Towers. That's where the likes of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have also enjoyed the five star accommodation. The Melbourne venue will also see the Aussie Million Poker Championship come January 2011, and Packer's poker tourney men would be keen to see Leo and George in their celeb poker games. Packer is also overseeing the revamp of his Western Australian complex, formally known as Burswood Entertainment Complex, and now known as Crown Burswood. In any event, Crown is keen for more star power and world class attractions, plus of course casino whales aka "high rollers".

Jay Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald and maybe even the late J. Edgar would be proud of the cat and mouse games that Clooney, DiCaprio and Maguire are playing with the Australian media.

Bwin.Party anticipates Spain and Denmark licences - 14th December 2011

PartyCasino.com website

Profiles

Bwin.Party Digital Entertainment PartyPoker.com PartyCasino.com Bwin.Party Digital Entertainment iGaming

The world’s largest listed online gambling operator, Bwin.Party Digital Entertainment, has released a pre-close trading update stating that its performance since the end of September has been ‘solid’ and ‘in-line with management’s expectations’.

Gibraltar-based Bwin.Party was born in late-March following the union of online betting and gaming provider Bwin Interactive Entertainment with PartyGaming and the operator revealed that it expects continuing clean earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation for the full year to be between 22 percent and 24 percent.

In addition, Bwin.Party declared that its integration ‘remains on-track’ and is expected to deliver around €40 million in annualised synergies next year before producing approximately €65 million in 2013 with the company already repurchasing 14 million shares at an average price of £1.26 each.

Bwin.Party also announced that the sale of its OnGame Network Limited business-to-business subsidiary is at an ‘advanced stage’ but is unlikely to be completed before the end of the year.
However, possibly the most interesting news from Bwin.Party was the revelation that it is anticipating approvals for its Spanish online sports, casino, poker and bingo products to be issued by authorities in the country as part of the ‘first wave of licences’ ahead of the market opening next year.

“The group’s licence applications for Spain were submitted on November 25 and it is expected that approvals for our sports, casino, poker and bingo products will be issued in the first wave of licences to be issued ahead of the market opening in 2012,” read a statement from Bwin.Party.

In Denmark, the firm revealed that it lodged licence applications on October 17 and also expects to be among the first group of operators to become authorised to offer online poker, casino and sports from the beginning of January.

“In Germany, the next meeting of the Minister Presidents is due to take place on December 15,” read the statement from Bwin.Party.

“Schleswig-Holstein, Germany’s most northern land, has stated its intention to press ahead with its law to regulate and license all forms of online gaming with a 20 percent tax on gross gaming revenue. Schleswig Holstein’s law has already been approved by the European Commission.

“While we hope that the other 15 Lander will revise their proposal, they may choose to press ahead with it in its current form, one that we believe fails to comply with European Union law or meet the requirements set out by the Court of Justice of the European Union. While we welcome the move to regulate the online gaming market in Germany, this must be in a consistent and coherent manner in line with European Union law that also enables licensed operators to compete effectively with black market operators. Any other approach, if sustained, will create a commercially unviable market and result in consumers being driven outside the regulated framework.

“In the United States, there remain a number of initiatives seeking to regulate Internet poker at both a Federal and a state level. Which route will reach the statute book first and when remains unclear but we remain optimistic that regulation will take a step forward in 2012. Either way, through our agreements with MGM and Boyd, the group is well-positioned to take advantage of any such opportunity.”

Bwin.Party gets ready for new markets - 14th December 2011...

Bwin.Party Digital Entertainment expects to be in the mix of the first group of firms who are issued with a licence for the Spanish market ahead of it opening next year.

In its pre-close trading update yesterday, the group stated that its licence applications for Spain were submitted on November 25 and it is expected that approvals for its sports, casino, poker and bingo products will be issued ahead of the market opening in 2012.

Bwin.Party also expects to be among the first group of operators to become licensed to offer online poker, casino and sports in Denmark at the beginning of January after its licence applications were lodged on October 17.

In Germany, the next meeting of the Minister Presidents is due to take place tomorrow and Bwin.Party hopes that the other 15 German states will revise their proposal in a consistent and coherent manner in line with European Union law, which also enables licensed operators to compete effectively with black market operators.

The group remains optimistic that US regulation will take a step forward in 2012. Via its agreements with MGM and Boyd, Bwin.Party believes it is well positioned to pounce on any such opportunity that may present.

The sale process of Ongame's B2B business is at an advanced stage, but although it has attracted a number of interested parties, the sale is unlikely to be finalised before the end of the year.

Bwin.Party is likely to retain its world leading position for the foreseeable future.

Paramount Pictures Tops At Global Box Office, by Greg Tingle

PartyCasino.com Marvel website PartyCasino.com website

Profiles

Marvel Entertainment Marvel Comics Paramount Pictures DreamWorks Mission: Impossible Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol Movies Hollywood PartyCasino.com Bwin.Party Digital Entertainment Marvel Slots

Paramount Pictures have enjoyed a fantastic year, both in Australia, as well as in the United States and other markets.

In the states they totally dominated the box office and is tipped to knock off the current global leader Warner Brothers. Paramount's studio has enjoyed more success distributing films via expiring partnerships with Marvel Entertainment / Marvel Studios and Stephen Spielberg's DreamWorks Animation than it has had creating its own in-house franchises.

Let's see... there was “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” and “Paranormal Activity 3,” and these contributed heavily to Paramount's bottom line.

In 2011, Paramount has fielded nine films that have crossed the $100 million barrier in U.S ticket sales, including 2010’s “True Grit,” which snatched the majority of its $250 million worldwide gross in this calendar year.

With $1.73 billion at the U.S box office thus far and two tentpoles in for the end of the year, "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" and Spielberg's "The Adventures of Tintin," Paramount will surely end Warner Brothers' three-year reign at the U.S box office.

And with $2.84 billion in international revenue and $4.6 billion in global receipts to date, Paramount Pictures will also end Warner's international and worldwide leading streaks.

"Going into the summer, we certainly felt like we had a number of big tentpole movies, and on balance, they all delivered,” said Don Harris, Paramount's president of domestic (U.S) theatrical distribution. “They all opened at high numbers."

But get this. There's an imminent departure of partners Marvel and DreamWorks Animation, the team behind such recent winners as “Thor,” "Captain America: The First Avenger," “Kung Fu Panda 2” and "Puss in Boots."

Combined, those films comprised four of Paramount's top five grossing movies this year.

Paramount gets distribution fees from DreamWorks Animation and Marvel, but it doesn’t own the rights to the superhero and family films.

Paramount's deal to distribute Marvel films has ended, and its deal with DreamWorks Animation expires in 2012. Though Paramount received an 8 percent distribution fee for its efforts with the two studios, the departure of Marvel and DreamWorks Animation will take a big chunk out of the studio’s market share.

Emboldened by the average success of “Rango” ($245 million), Paramount recently launched its own animation division with an eye toward owning the family films it distributes outright. It expects to release its first film through via the new arm in 2014.

The DreamWorks deal was relatively low-risk and good money.

Paramount appears to believe hat after a number of years of serving as a distribution house for other companies, it has developed enough of its own intellectual property to move forward without the comic book based company and the animation studio.

It's hoping that Pixar whiz Brad Bird (“The Incredibles”) can reinvigorate its “Mission: Impossible” franchise after 2006’s disappointing third installment, and it already successfully rebooted the wilting “Star Trek” franchise. A sequel to its hit 2009 "Trek" film is due out in two years.

"Transformers” - "Dark of the Moon" grossed $1.1 billion worldwide and was more positively embraced than its predecessor.

Paramount Pictures has enjoyed a burst of lower budget successes, adding to their whale size film portfolio.

Created for a cost of a modest $13 million, the studio’s Justin Bieber concert film “Never Say Never,” took in nearly $100 million worldwide. Likewise, “Paranormal Activity 3” continued the ultra-low budget series’ knack for healthy profit margins. Produced for a tiny $5 million, the haunted house film clocked up $201.9 million worldwide.

Almost everything Paramount Pictures touched turned to gold. The big write-off would be "Hugo", with a budget of $170 million and grossing just $33 million globally. Let it be noted that Paramount only distributed the film and this means that the dip falls on the head of producer Graham King.

The remake of '80s dance film “Footloose” failed to bring in audiences. The $24 million film snatched a $62 million worldwide gross, which is well below par for Paramount.

What's in Paramount's future? Paramount appears unlikely to duplicate its record breaking success next year at the box office. The studio expects big things for its zombie flick "World War Z" with Brad Pitt and “G.I. Joe: Retaliation,” but appears that's not comic book films in the works to excel this years numbers.

Take note that in the coming year more of the films that Paramount Pictures releases are owned by them. This means that the studio will be able to keep more of the profits for themselves, but that appears to be a higher risk strategy than the one they employed this year.

Paramount will survive, no doubt, but it may be more of a stock market - roller-coaster type ride than the relatively smooth sailing they enjoyed over the past 12 months.

See you at the movies.

Crown Casino And Crown Limited News Update

Australian land based casinos continue their entertainment push, with big name celebrities and more expensive casino re-vamps in the works. The massive casino image make-over may have started in 'Sin City' Sydney and spread to Melbourne, but now Perth is centre stage, but not without the usual hassles that are known to hit casinos. As they say, high risk, high rewards, and sometimes even the house doesn't win, which is good news for punters.

Crown emergency as toddler almost drowns - 12th December 2011...

A three-year-old boy who almost drowned in a pool at the Crown casino complex had been signed into the area by an adult.

Staff members found the boy floating face down in the pool just after 5pm yesterday.

Crown spokesman Gary O'Neill said a trained pool attendant responded to a call for help.

The boy was pulled unconscious from the water, he was treated at the scene and emergency services alerted, Mr O’Neill said.

It is understood family members were close by.

Mr O’Neill said, as was policy in the area, the child had been signed into the pool complex by an adult.

Intensive care paramedic Alan Eade said the boy was unconscious when he was pulled from the water.

"Staff put the boy on his side and tilted his head back, which helped open his airway [to] ensure he was breathing," Mr Eade said.

The Metropolitan Fire Brigade continued providing the boy with oxygen until paramedics arrived.
The boy was discharged from the Royal Children's Hospital.

Crown casino car fire sets off sprinklers - 13th December 2011...

A car on fire in the underground Crown casino carpark has sent plumes of smoke through one of its levels.

MFB fire crews were called to the scene about 4pm after the engine caught alight, setting off the basement's sprinklers.

Five fire crews were unable to drive trucks into the carpark and were forced to hook up to hydrants set up inside the basement.

The cause of the fire, which destroyed the car, is unknown.

An MFB spokesman said smoke extraction fans were being used to clear the smoke, which was billowing out the basement doors.

Burswood Entertainment Complex To Become Crown Perth...

James Packer has confirmed the Burswood Entertainment Complex will be renamed Crown Perth and "new and exciting" projects were coming up for the entertainment and gaming hotspot.

The new branding would place Burswood in a better position to compete with world-class integrated resorts popping up throughout Asia, and reinforced his belief in the complex and its future, Mr Packer said.

Speaking at the Burswood Convention Centre, the Crown Ltd boss said Australia was falling behind Asian nations such as Singapore, Macau and the Philippines in the increasingly lucrative but also competitive international tourism market.

One hundred million Chinese were expected to travel overseas by 2020, spending $800 billion per year.

Asian governments were playing a more active role in boosting their tourism sectors, funding multi-million dollar tourism infrastructure projects and heavily promoting their new integrated resorts in state tourism campaigns, Mr Packer said.

Macau, for example, had overtaken Las Vegas as the number one destination for gaming tourists. Singapore was projected to do so next year, while the Philippines had stated its aim to become number two in the market.

In return for the public investment, Singapore reaped its largest ever growth in global domestic product, 14.5 per cent.

Mr Packer said Australia was missing out and governments had to be more proactive in improving the country's international tourism appeal or the potential would slip away.

In particular, he called on the federal government to relax its policy on direct flights to Asia, improve the ease of access to Australian visas and make airports more efficient.

"We must listen to the customer and increase investment in tourism infrastructure and related services and activities," he said.

Crown Perth To Power Ahead

Burswood is half-way through a $750 million refurbishment instigated after Crown purchased the 26-year-old site in 2004.

It is due to be completed by the end of 2012, at which time it will become Crown Perth.
"I'm determined that this property will be at least as good as Crown Melbourne or Crown Macau," Mr Packer said.

"[The rebranding also would help] create two of the best integrated tourism resorts in our region and assist Australia to become a more attractive tourism destination for the critical Chinese tourism market.

"We don't think we're there yet in terms of this facility (Burswood). Putting the Crown brand on it is a statement that we are going to get there."

Mr Packer admitted his company would benefit financially from the state government's planned sports stadium at the site but said he had not been approached to pitch in for costs and nor would he have if he was asked.

"If asked, our response would have been we're not in the stadium business, they're not a good business," he said.

"Now that the Premier has decided to put it there, we're very grateful.

"It's going to fundamentally change the Burswood Peninsula."

Mr Packer all but confirmed the present golf course would have to go to make room for the stadium but said he would like to see it rebuilt at a later date.

"It's highly likely that we will, in time, develop new and exciting projects that aren't included in the $750 million capital expenditure," he said.

"Things like golf are part of trying to build a tourism destination that is truly world class.
"We want to do much more here. We believe in this city, we believe in this state, we think as a company we are lucky to be here."

The Perth waterfront redevelopment

Mr Packer said the state government's massive waterfront redevelopment would do wonders for the city's tourism appeal.

"This city has an almost unique opportunity to take some of the waterfront that is still available and to fantastic things," he said.

"One of the things that always excites me is to see that there's so much land available and so many great things that could be done with it."

Mr Packer said many of his customers would eventually engage more with Perth if their experience was good.

They would potentially send their children to education here or for medical services.

If there’s one thing the Australians love more than gambling it’s sport and for them poker is fair game. This means that once the cards hit the felt at the Aussie Millions you can expect a raucous atmosphere from the crowds inside the Crown Poker Room. Indeed, since its inception the Main Event has grown immensely from just 133 runners in 2004, to 681 runners in 2009 and 721 in 2011.

The Aussie Millions is considered to be one of the game’s crowning majors – on a par with the WSOP or the WPT World Championship – and for good reason too. The Melbourne-based tournament is situated in one of the most desirable locations in the southern hemisphere and will again be hosted at the world-class Crown Casino complex, where all manner of poker action will unfold from January 12–30.

As ever the 2012 Aussie Millions schedule will be highlighted by the AU$10,600 Main Event, a five-day behemoth that last year awarded a staggering AU$2 million to winner David Gorr, but that will be just one of the 26 events on offer this year. Perhaps one of the more eye-catching side events taking place will be the $100,000 Challenge – a two-day event that will pit a granite-hard field of the game’s elite against one another for a total prizepool that last year exceeded AU$3,800,000. But while that blue chip tournament may well be out of reach for all but a select few of poker’s established Illuminati, there will be plenty of mid-high-stakes action for the more budget-conscious traveller, as outlined on the schedule at www.aussiemillions.com

Aussie Millions highlights

So, what should you be playing to keep yourself busy in January? Here’s our pick of the action over the fortnight. (All entries are in Australian Dollars.)

January 12–15 - $1,000+100 - NLHE Freezeout

January 16–18 - $1,000+100 - PLO

January 17–19 - $1,100+100 - NLHE Shootout

Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol: Movie Review...

The super popular and very cook Mission: Impossible franchise is back... enter Ghost Protocol.

Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt goes on a one man rampage to clear his organization's name in Brad Bird's first live-action film, and Bird does a top job.

Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol, does the 16 year old movie and television franchise justice and we think is one of the better films of 2011. This film and some of the cast just has to win some awards, and this is Cruise's big comeback that the world has been waiting for.

You've got the can't miss combo of Yankee agents attempting to stop a bad guy who has it in this think skull that a nuclear winter will be very cool. Ethan has other ideas, and becomes a one man war machine (or anti-war machine), may be more appropriate.

IMAX teamed up with Paramount Pictures, Cruise and Bird really is a world class threesome.

Those into maths - the franchise has netted in $1.4 billion to date.

Media and fans across the world are lapping it up, but will Cruise also come to Australia to promote the film? Time will tell, but here's hoping our friends at Paramount Pictures Australia will give it the nod.

Ethan does all (or most) of his own stunts, and is often found on tall buildings. It's hard to tell how much CGI and other visual effects are used, and we are not likely to find out.

The tagline is No Plan. No Backup. No Choice. You have a choice as to if you will see this film. We're here to tell you to see it. Most of the Mission: Impossible games of all types are worth checking out also, so check Media Man's Bwin.Party Digital Entertainment PartyCasino and Nintendo reviews, and then there's the official Mission: Impossible for the latest and greatest on the film. Cruise has stopped or distanced himself from Scientology, and that's further got him browny points with the world's media and movie fans. 4.5 out of 5 stars. Your mission today, or at least this festive season, is to see this film (and any live music associated with it).

Bean counter types - did you know the franchise has netted in $1.4 billion to date.

Media and fans in Moscow and Dubai are lapping it up, but will Cruise take the journey down under to Australia to promote the flick? Time will tell, but we're hoping our friends at Paramount Pictures Australia will give it the nod.

Ethan could be compared to The Amazing Spider-Man, given all the stunts and all on buildings, and the secret is out that Cruise likes to do most of his own stunts. How much CGI and other visual effects were used, we may never know, but this flick will sure keep one guessing.

Casinos Poker Slots Online Casino Las Vegas United States Steve Wynn Global Gaming Directory

Robert Kraft and Steve Wynn on Friday began to tap into the free media of cable access to sell Foxboro residents on their vision of a jobs-and revenue-producing Route 1 resort and convention with an "intimate" rather than a gaudy, Las Vegas-style casino.

Their approximately 10-minute tape appealing for local support for what Wynn called an "exemplary" and "fanciful" destination began to air last night on Foxboro Cable Access.

"I think this is a place I would make feel intimate," Wynn, who built casinos in Las Vegas and China, says of his concept of a Foxboo casino, to be located unseen in the back area of the hotel. The project would generate some 10,000 jobs, he says.

Kraft, owner of the New England Patriots, says that any money he makes from the $1 billion development would go to charity and to "Uncle Sam," to improve the Kraft family legacy, but that if townspeople don't want the project, it won't be built.

"I'm worried about what's going to happen to our social fabric if we don't bring jobs back to America," Kraft says.

Their messages was scheduled to aired at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday, and 7:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday on Comcast Channel 8 and Verizon Channel 39, FCA executive director Mike Webber said. The video can be seen anytime on FCA's website, fcatv.org

"The vision and promises about the benefits of the casino presented in the video appear to be contrary to the vision of those citizens who do not want a casino in Foxboro," Selectwoman Lorraine Brue said.

"The video suggests that the citizens decide if it is in their best interest to have this project move forward. To date, the majority of citizens I have spoken to are not in favor of having a casino in our town."

With Foxboro facing "one of the most important decisions in the history of our town," Brue said she expects a large turnout at Tuesday's selectmen's meeting and at a forum tentatively set for Dec. 17 at Foxboro High School, and hopes the Kraft and Wynn organizations will be there "to ensure they receive direct citizen input on their proposal."

"I believe the majority of the citizens will tell Mr. Kraft and Mr. Wynn, that with all due respect, their vision is not one that is compatible with life in Foxboro. Foxboro citizens and the surrounding communities do not want a casino and all of the negative social impacts they believe it will bring."

Selectmen Chairman Larry Harrington could not be reached for comment following Friday's airing of the tape.
